19. George Gardiner1,2,3,4 was born on 15 February 1599 in Greenford Magna, Middlesex, England. He was christened on 15 February 1599 in Greenford, Middlesex, England. He was christened before 26 February 1599/1600 in Greenford, Middlesex, England. George died in 1677 at the age of 78 in Newport, Newport, Rhode Island. He was buried in 1677 in Newport, Newport, Rhode Island. He was buried in Newport, Newport, Rhode Island. George has Ancestral File Number 8SXF-KJ. The birth and parentage of this individual as listed here are almost certainly incorrect as is the listed marriage to Sarah Slaughter. The Moriarty text examines these alleged relationships in substantial detail. See: C:\MYFILES\GARDINER\BENONI (MORIARTY).WPD for complete text.

George Gardiner and Herodias Long were married in 1645/6 in Newport, Newport, Rhode Island. Herodias Long1,2,3,4,5,6 was born in 1623/4 in Southwark, London, London, England. She died after 17 December 1671 at the age of 47 in Of Pettaquamscut, Rhode Island, U. S. A.. She has Ancestral File Number 8SXF-LP, H0F8-S3. The Moriarty text gives an extensive and comprehensive analysis of Herodias Long's various relationships, and establishes with reasonable certainty that she was the mother of Benoni Gardiner.

George Gardiner and Sarah Slaughter4 were married on 29 March 1630 in Saint Jamesparishch, Clerkenwell, London, England. The Moriarty text calls this "family" into extreme doubt. While there is no doubt that a George Gardiner married a Sarah Slaughter, and had the two children listed, it seems almost certain that this was not George Gardiner of Narragansett, R.I. Sarah Slaughter1,2 was born about 1604 in Of London, England. She died in 1637 at the age of 33 in Atlantic Ocean. She was christened. Sarah was buried in Atlantic Ocean. She has reference number FHKL-JG. She has Ancestral File Number FHKL-JG. !RELATIONSHIP: Ancestral File
!

!EMIGRATION-DEATH-CHILDREN: Apparently she died and was buried at sea, as were
her two older sons. There seems little doubt to me that she was the mother of
Benoni, and that she probably died giving birth to him. (The name was given to
a male child whose mother died in childbirth in over 100 instances in New
England during the Pilgrim period).!RELATIONSHIP: Ancestral File !

Edward Gardiner3,4 was born about 1631 in London, England. He died in 1637 at the age of 6 in Atlantic Ocean. He was buried in At Sea. Edward has Ancestral File Number GBFG-2R. It has been included here only so that other researchers may be aware of these doubts.

ii.

Robert Gardiner3,4 was born about 1633 in London, England. He died in 1637 at the age of 4. He has Ancestral File Number GBFG-3X. This looks suspiciously like some "hammer to fit" genealogy.
