She died after 17 December 1671 at the age of 47 in Of Pettaquamscut, Rhode Island, U. S. A.. She has Ancestral File Number 8SXF-LP, H0F8-S3. The Moriarty text gives an extensive and comprehensive analysis of Herodias Long's various relationships, and establishes with reasonable certainty that she was the mother of Benoni Gardiner.

While there is no doubt that a George Gardiner married a Sarah Slaughter, and had the two children listed, it seems almost certain that this was not George Gardiner of Narragansett, R.I. Sarah Slaughter^1,2 was born about 1604 in Of London, England. She died in 1637 at the age of 33 in Atlantic Ocean. She was christened. Sarah was buried in Atlantic Ocean. This looks suspiciously like some "hammer to fit" genealogy. The Moriarty text calls the Robinson book theory of this child being a son of George of Narragansett into great question. It has been included here only so that other researchers may be aware of these doubts.
30	ii.	Robert Gardiner^3,4 was born about 1633 in London, England. He died in 1637 at the age of 4. He has Ancestral File Number GBFG-3X. This looks suspiciously like some "hammer to fit" genealogy. AFN FMJ5-3L shows marriage date as bet 1664 and 1668 Lydia Ballou^1,2,3 was born about 1649 in Newport, Newport, Rhode Island. She died in 1722 at the age of 73. She has Ancestral File Number FMJ5-3L, 35HB-HX. AFN 35HB-HX incorrectly lists her surname as Ballou Gardner.
